WHY YOU SHOULD WEAR SUNGLASSES

Wearing sunglasses benefits you in many ways. You can create mystery, cover up a hangover, as fashion and to escape the paparazzi. However the major benefit of wearing sun glass is not for fashion or any of the afore mentioned purposes. Protecting your eyes from the UV rays of the sun is the most important of all benefits derived from wearing sunglasses.

The UV rays of the sun causes a lot of damages to your retina and corneas. Science and medicine has come a long way in correcting bad vision. A lot of financing is needed to carry out these corrective measures in most cases. It would be better if you could take a preventive measure to take care of the problem from the unset by wearing sunglasses.

Disorders such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and even skin cancer around the eyes can be signs of sun damage that can be prevented by the use of sunglasses. Cataract is an eye condition that involves clouding of the lens behind the Iris and Pupil. Studies have shown that there links between cataracts and increased exposure to ultraviolet light. Prolonged exposure to sunlight without the protection of sunglasses has also been included as a probable cause of macular degeneration.

Wearing sunglasses can help save your eyes and face in so many ways. Increased exposure to sunlight can cause skin cancer. Sunglasses can reduce the risk of skin cancer in the eye lids and skin around your eyes. You also get a decreased appearance of lines around your face.

Distorting the face in certain ways on a regular basis can cause premature wrinkles and increase the sign of aging. You squint when you are exposed to bright light without wearing sunglasses because your eyes are not comfortable being opened under bright light. Therefore it can be said that sunglasses help reduce wrinkles as you age.

You may be asking what kind of sunglasses should I get, a good pair of sunglasses with UV protection can help protect you against a lot of eye disorders and pain.

You need to protect your eyes because you need them every day. Keep them safe!

Personal skin care

Personal skin care is a very important issue as long as skin health is concerned.  The how-to for personal skin care differs from individual to individual.  Personal skin care refers to following a routine or a procedure for attending to the needs of your skin.

Before starting any skin care routine, you need to determine your skin-type. You must know if your skin is oily, dry, sensitive or normal and then select the skin care products suitable for your skin type. Here is a routine that should work for most people regardless of your skin type.

Proper cleansing of the skin is the first step to a healthy and good looking skin. Cleansing your skin with a cleanser that contains the right ingredients suitable for your skin type will make you look at the mirror and say ‘I look good’. The main ingredients of cleanser are oil, water and wetting agents. They extract dirt and oil from your skin and flush them out making your skin clean.

Exfoliation is another personal skin care routine that should be of great importance. Exfoliation is a way of facilitating the skin in removing dead cells and replacing them with new skin cells. This helps to increase the effectiveness of skin care products on the skin. Exfoliation should take place immediately after cleansing. How many times you exfoliate in a week depends on your skin type. You should exfoliate more in hot and humid weather.

Another very important thing to consider in personal skin care is moisturizing. Moisturizers help seal the moisture in your skin as well as attract moisture from the air whenever needed. It is important to note that too much use of moisturizers can clog the skin pores and end up harming your skin. To get the best result, moisturizers should be applied when the skin is still damp.

Avoiding too much exposure to the sun’s UV rays is also very important. Using moisturizers with UV protection is advised.

Inculcating all these into your personal skin care routine will give your skin the needed glow and as well as look pretty and youthful.

It is best to consult a dermatologist before using any skin care product and for further advice on any skin condition.

Detoxify Your Way To Health And Beauty

Sometimes your brain feels so sluggish that you can't even think clearly? How many times have you felt so tired that even climbing a single flight of stairs takes a lot from you?. How about those times when you felt so ugly that even your best outfit can't lift your mood? You have tried every known way to stay fit and searched every shelf in the health and beauty aisle for that wonder product that could revive you but still your effort is to no avail. Why not try looking inward for a solution? I am talking about detoxification.

Detoxification is the body’s natural way of neutralizing and eliminating toxins from the body. Toxins are anything that can potentially harm the body tissues. This includes waste products that result from normal cell activity and human made toxins that we are exposed to within our environment, food and water. The kidneys, liver, intestine, skin, lungs and blood work together to ensure that toxins are transformed chemically to less harmful compounds and excreted out of the body.

Detoxification is a wholistic approach to health and beauty. It encompasses everything from diet, fitness, and your sense of well-being. Try it for a weekend and start the new week with a renewed and more revived you. Detoxifying your way to health and beauty is possible with a few things which you could conveniently find in your home.

Dieting for detoxification is one of the best ways to help get harmful toxins out of the body. These foods will help remove environmental and dietary toxins from the body. Generally a detoxification diet is a short term diet that
-       -  Contains high fiber foods and water that eliminate toxins by increasing the frequency of bowel movement and urination.
-       -   Minimizes the amount of chemicals ingested.
-       -    Emphasizes foods that provide the vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants needed by the body for detoxification.

You can add exercise to your detoxification program to make it more effective and gainful. After undergoing a detoxification program it is advisable that you ease back into a healthier but less restrictive diet.

Lots of benefit is derived from detoxification. These include increased concentration and clarity, improved energy, clearer skin, regular bowel movement and improved digestion.

Poor sleep, pain, fatigue and indigestion can be signs of serious illness rather than as a result of toxins in the body. Therefore you are advised to see your doctor before starting a detoxification program.

Some Causes of Adult Acne

Regardless of age, acne is a condition of the sebaceous glands. These glands are attached to hair follicles and produce an oily substance called sebum. Acne forms when a hair follicle becomes plugged with sebum and dead cells. The disease-causing events in the sebaceous glands are believed to be largely due to changes in levels of androgenic (male) hormones in the body—a circumstance usually associated with the growth and development that occurs between the ages of 12 and 21. Therefore, it is important to look for an underlying cause of acne that occurs for the first time in adulthood.

Acne that appears after 25 to 30 years of age may be as a result of one of these reasons:
   1. Recurrence of acne that cleared up after adolescence
   2. Flare-up of acne after a period of relative quiet—for example, during pregnancy
   3. Occurs for the first time in a person who had never previously had acne.

Some causes of adult acne include the following:
   *   Medication.
    *   Physical pressure on the skin.
    *   Metabolic conditions. Changes in the hormonal balance, such as those brought about by pregnancy, menstruation or hormonal abnormalities can induce acne.

It is also important to know that some lesions which appear to be acne are not acne at all.
Acne that occurs in adulthood may be difficult to treat if there are multiple recurrences. Acne that appears for the first time in adulthood should be examined and treated by a dermatologist.

The facts about Oily skin care

Simply put, oily skin is a result of excessive production of sebum, an oily substance that is naturally produced by the skin. When produced in excess sebum is bad as it leads to clogging of skin pores, resulting in accumulation of dead cells and hence formation of pimples and acne. This affects your looks negatively. Therefore knowing how to care for oily skin is very important.

The basic aim of oily skin care is to remove excess sebum or oil from the skin. However, oily skin care procedures should not lead to complete removal of oil. It should rather start with the use of a cleanser.  However, not all cleansers will work for one will work for another. You need a cleanser that contains salicylic acid i.e. a beta-hydroxyl acid that retards the rate of sebum production. Cleansing should be done twice a day or even more in hot and humid conditions.

Most of the oily skin care products are oil-free, however, it is always good to check the ingredients of the product, before you buy it. This is important especially if a product is marked as suitable for all skin types. The types of skin care product you buy also depend on the degree of oiliness of your skin. For extremely oily skin, only oily skin care products are suitable. Your oily skin care routine can include an alcohol based toner for an extremely oily skin. This is another step in your oily skin care routine i.e. just after cleansing. However, excessive toning can harm your skin.

The next step in your oily skin care routine can be a mild moisturizer. Again, the degree of oiliness of your skin determines whether you need to include this in your oily skin care routine or not. If you do decide to include a moisturizer, be sure to use one that is oil-free, wax-free and lipid-free.

Getting an oily skin care product that is suitable for you may require you trying out a few. Skin care products with vitamin A and sulphur are advisable.
If don’t get your desired result from these simple tips, consult a dermatologist for more advice.
