ACNE

What is Acne
Acne is a disease of the hair follicles of the face, chest and back that affects both sex during puberty. However some women do develop acne years after puberty. Acne appears on the skin as red bumps known as pimples, pustules, cysts also called deep pimples or boils.

Causes of Acne
Acne occurs when the natural substance that lubricates and protects the skin called sebum which is stored in the sebaceous gland attached to the hair follicles are stimulated at the time of puberty by elevated level of hormones. At puberty there is increase in the production of sebum or oil by the manner in which the skin cells mature. These oil clog to the follicular pores which gradually enlarges, producing bumps.
However there are other contributing factors like using pore clogging cosmetics and skin care products. External pressure on the skin like pressure from chin straps, suspenders and collars can aggravate acne. Drugs can also cause acne or worsen acne.
There has being no proof yet that food, stress  , heredity or dirt can cause acne.

Treatment of Acne
From the causes of acne mentioned above the treatment of acne both medical and home remedies are mostly focused on unclogging the pores and minimizing oil. Your life style plays a very important role in this aspect. Nowadays it is difficult for people to sleep eight hours, eat good three meals in a day as well as drink the recommended quantity of water in a day to keep the body system functioning normal. However you can still control your acne by not picking or squeezing pimples and getting facials.

Cleansing with mild cleansers and exforliators removes the outer layer of the skin thereby opening pores. No one can stop the production of oil by the oil glands in the body however, you can get rid of oil on the surface of the skin thereby keeping the pores open.
